Dear Fellow Explorers of the art of quiet,
In our community class today, we practiced around the elephant in the room of the mind of the modern person - our relationship with time.
In today's time-obsessed life, time is the thing nibbling away at our mental health and happiness like a chronological termite.
We're mice on wheels.
On a wheel of our own making.
I see it in myself, and all around me, but we act like all is ok.
Our lives race forward and backward, stretched thin across the illusion of minutes, hours and years.
Not a Final Fantasy
In Zen and Taoist thought, there's a dimension where the time-tyrant holds no power. There is a place where clocks throw their hands up in despair, calendars curl up for a nap.
Where time disappears.
This isn't some far-off fantasy land... It's right here, right now, in the spacious ballroom of your consciousness, where stillness is ever present.
But where you don't go.... to your cost.
This place a space within us, vast as the blue sky and as close as our next breath.
Maybe you can notice it now, like the crack between the floorboards in your floor.
It is always there. But we ignore it.
The Quiet Rebellion
This space holds the key to a deep experience of true peace.
It's in these time intervals that we experience pauses, out breaths, time slowing.
Yin Yoga, in its purest form, is a safe space which allows us to experience this.
